Discover Washington Park’s history and then stroll through an adjacent East Washington Park neighborhood.
Pharmacist Roscoe Mershon and his wife, Jenny, lived here at 1274 South High Street until 1929. He worked at Scholtz-Mutual Drug Company. The next owners were Ralph and Lillian Ellis. Living with them was lodger Fred Lueck, a medical librarian. The Craftsman houses featured on this block each display variations of open timbering in porch gables. Brick in contrasting colors creates a pattern on the square porch roof supports.
